"TOBIAS"

A young African-American orphan in his early teens, he was captured by THE CANDY MAN to be tortured for amusement after refusing to be a drugrunner for the criminal underworld. Fortunately, he is not held for long before THOMAS appears and kills his captor, rescuing the boy in the process. The only surviving child from the scene, and with no family to go back to, THOMAS takes him under his wing. As time passes, TOBIAS is pushed to be what his teacher is not: a truly good man, free of sin and pure of conscience.  However, the boy also expresses interest in learning how to wield a blade, and despite THOMAS’ initial refusal, begins to learn by watching. When his teacher eventually gives in, TOBIAS makes him a promise to only use it in defense, as his experiences have shown him that violence will always lead down a very dark path. The boy serves as a moral compass of sorts, acting as the conscience of a man who was raised without one...but Tobias has other plans, quietly longing to continue the work of the only hero he's ever known.
